Japanese man sells Ferrari to fund shelter for dogs to repay dog that saved his life

A 54 year old Japanese man shut his company and sold his luxury sports car to fund a shelter for 'dogs with issues', after his pet dog saved him when he tried to end his own life.


The Wansfree canine rescue centre in Yaizu, Shizuoka Prefecture in central Japan offers services for free, caring for dogs that animal lovers find difficult to care for.


These dogs have usually been abused and have troubles with trusting humans, they would bite indiscriminately, reported the head of Wansfree, Hirotaka Saito.


Previously, Saito owned a company, but his life took a dramatic turn when the company got into financial troubles 12 years ago and did not feel like living anymore.


As he was getting ready to leave home to end his life, his dog stood infront of the front door and refused to move. The dog was a big animal weighing 70 kg.


It then dawned on Saito that the dog must have known everything and was attempting to stop him. Realizing this, he no longer wanted to die.


Having a new realization, Saito wished to start living in service of others, so he chose to take on a task that was little known in Japan then - shelter dogs who bite people to let them know they are loved.


There are about 40 dogs living with him now. Some are laying on the grass, and enjoying the sun in Yaizu, Central Prefecture of Japan.
