Changi airport worker who opened her home to stranded passengers wins annual award




Singapore - February 23 2024


When Certis aviation security service operations executive Rowena Aranton was faced with three Filipino passengers at Changi airport, she offered them her home at Buangkok Singapore for the night


The three travellers were traveling for the first time and did not know to clear immigration and collect their baggage from terminal 1 before checking in at terminal 3 on a different airline to Shanghai


Ms Aranton who is also from the Philippines, was on service outside the boarding gate to accompany them back to terminal 1 to fill in their arrival cards. Despite her help, the passengers missed their flight to Shanghai, with Shanghai being the the connecting flight to their destination in London


Seeing they had to raise funds for the flight from Singapore to London, and understanding their financial stress, Ms Aranton offered them a room at her HDB home


For her compassionate service, Ms Aranton was awarded the Service Personality of the year for 2024 at Changi Airport's 30th Annual Airport Celebration
